Thought for the Day: Of Wolves and Men

wolf 1Men and Wolves are Close Cousins

A gentleman is simply a patient wolf. Lana Turner

If you live among wolves you have to act like a wolf. Nikita Khrushchev

The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep’s for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty. Plainly, the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of liberty. Abraham Lincoln

wolf 3Wolves are horrible creatures.

wolf 2Wolves are wonderful creatures.

It depends who you ask.

Some see the family nature of wolf packs and how each member must play a role properly to remain in the pack.

Others see wolves killing their sheep and their cattle, especially causing great devastation when they are training their cubs to kill.

Wolves and people have much in common.

There may be a great harmony in a pack with love for one another. But they may mercilessly lay in ambush and slaughter another pack infringing on their territory.

This was Adolf Hitler’s thinking prior to World War II. He felt that Germany was infringed upon and had no mercy for his neighbors. He said that Czechoslovakia was a sword in his side.

We need to be more like wolves.

We need to be less like wolves.

John
