You may have noticed that I’ve been away all week, at least I wasn’t writing. My grandson, Evan, is going to Mexico for a couple of years and I decided to spend some time with him. Just to make that time not so boring, I told him he could bring his friend, Cepheus, both eighteen year old.
We left Tuesday and got about half way across Utah. On Wednesday we toured Brice Canyon National Park and then Zions National Park. We saw Zions twice because we went back out the east entrance where we came in. We stayed that night in Page, Arizona noticing that Lake Powell was extremely low. Too bad for California farmers suffering from the Southwest drought.
We toured the Grand Canyon National Park on Thursday, going in the east entrance and coming out the south entrance. We stayed in Flagstaff. I was limited in mobility at Grand because of the elevation, also in Flagstaff. I felt better when we got down to 5000 feet.
We went to the Petrified Forest National Park on Friday, going in and out the south entrance because
Evan missed a turn. We than went to Canyon de Chelley (da shay) National Monument. I turned the boys loose and they hiked to the bottom of the canyon and other places. We stayed in Bluff, back in Utah.
Saturday was a great day for the boys. I was able to take a hike of my own looking at the arches in Arches National Park. They hiked for a couple of hours. Every where they went they took my camera and they said they took some fantastic photos. I’ll let you know when I have them up where you can see them.
Last year my grandson, two of my sons and my brother went to Alaska (also my son’s brother-in-law). Great fun!
We need to keep up relationships, right?
