In our daily hubbub we sometimes fail to give our children some special training in family values. Yes, we tell them, “Do this!” “Don’t do that!” But we don’t take the time to tell them why certain behavior is preferred. As children mature, more burdens are laid upon them. They don’t always know how to react to a situation so they make mistakes, mistakes that could be avoided.
It’s true that children receive some good advice at school, but not all school advice fits in with the moral code of the parents. Our government is trying to replace the family just as was done in the Soviet Union. They are pressure the schools to do their will, not what you want. They use funding pressures to get the schools to perform their way.
And kids get advice from church and other leaders. But is it the advice that you want your children to have. You need to know what is going on with your children and one way to find that out is to ask them what is going on. If you take some time, like one hour or so a week, to train your children your way, then they will stay out of trouble and be your pride and joy.
