Man has always had his gods. They come in all shapes and forms. Some believe in an anthropomorphic god:
Genesis 1:27King James Version (KJV)
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
King James Version (KJV)
Albert Einstein said that he didn’t know whether there is a God or not, an agnostic. He said that he didn’t believe in a personal God.
Stephen Hawking claims that he now knows the basic physics of cosmology, the creation of the universe, and that there is no need for a god nor does God exist.
Many scientist I know believe in God. Most people not only believe there is a God but they say that they know it. All little children seem to know God personally.
King James Bible Luke 18-16
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Jesus Christ said that no man has ever seen God (his Father) at any time.
After Christ died, Stephen saw God:
Acts 7:54-59 King James Version (KJV)
54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
57 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul.
59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
King James Version (KJV)
Mormons believe that Joseph Smith saw God when he was about 15 years old and after that.
The Nature of God
Many Christian religions say that there are three gods in the Trinity, but then they say that they are all one.
Most Christians believe that God is a spirit and that he does not have a physical body. Mormons believe that he has a physical body and is a distinct individual separate from his son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Mormons think they can become gods. The Jehovah’s Witnesses, who drop by, tell me that actually 144,000 of them will boss us around in the hereafter.
According to the New Testament, Jesus Christ is the product of communion between Mary and the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ said that anyone who denies the Holy Ghost becomes a Son of Perdition and will not have forgiveness in this world nor in the world to come. He knows who His father is.
The Scriptures are said to be the very word of God even though they are written by men. Such man or claim to be inspired and what they write is exactly what God would write.
Man creates by two processes, innovation and evolution. Christians claim that human beings are the sons and daughters of God. But the Creationist prohibit God from using evolution in the creation process. They think that God is in a hurry. I don’t.
Time Travel could answer many questions. Only Doc. Brown knows how to make a time machine. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmett_Brown
According to Albert Einstein, the laws of physics allow travel back in time (but not forward). As soon as someone creates a suitable Time Machine, we will be able to follow the path backwards to the beginning of time. Then we should see evolution of the cosmos. (Actually, we can see it now through the space telescopes. Those who are not totally blind, can see it in the geological record.)
I think I could build a time machine if I could afford a DeLorean automobile, some stolen Libyan plutonium, and a flux capacitor.
Of Course, God Exists
My mother taught me how to pray when I was very little. She had me kneel by the bed to pray. I told her, “Momma, there is nobody here but us!” But she taught me to bless the poor and the needy, those who mourn, the leaders of the (Mormon) Church and the leaders of the land, meaning President Roosevelt. So God had to be there.
I still talk to God every night. I ask him questions about the cosmos, the answers are not given, of course. The Nobel Prize must be earned by hard work and genius, neither of which I am prone to have.
Although Albert Einstein said we can not travel into the future, God says that he has to or the Universe, a nasty brute, could knock us out and that after all the work he did to populate this globe with strange creatures such as bunny rabbits, kookaburras and people.
I Was Strolling Through the Park One Day
What if a black hole the size of a basketball passed by us one sunny day? It could gobble up our little planet in one gulp. What if a star too big for its pants collapsed into a black hole in our vicinity of the Milky Way and its gamma ray beam, like a searchlight, passed over the earth? We would all be dead, of course. Maybe a few little critters who can burrow deep into the earth would survive as they did during the dinosaur extinction.
Actually, there are a lot of these gamma ray burst. Fortunately most of them occurred soon after the big bang when the humongous stars were formed but were short-lived and they collapsed into black holes.
What Is It With These Gamma Ray Burst?
It took the cosmologist a long time to figure out what was going on. One thought that the formation of neutron stars could be the culprit but that model didn’t quite fit the mold. The short duration of these events pointed to black hole formation. Radio telescopes pick up these gamma ray burst, but to see them, telescopes must be focused on them within a few hours. Amazingly, the technology was worked out.
Meanwhile, Back in Siberia
And, speaking of the dinosaurs, we could get hit by a massive comet or meteor. It’s best that these land in Siberia as one did in 1908. “The Tunguska event was a large explosion that occurred near the Stony Tunguska River, in Yeniseysk Governorate (now Krasnoyarsk Krai), Russia, on the morning of 30 June 1908 (N.S.).” Nobody was injured. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunguska_event
And In 2013
God told me that he has to watch out for such things. He said that he chose this planet to populate because it was in a safe vicinity for the time being. He told me not to take anything for granted. He couldn’t stop everything from happening, like the current floods in the Louisiana. He said that he could have warned the folks down that way but that he was watching the Olympics.
That’s what I’m doing right now. Didn’t the Brazilians do a brilliant job? I think so!
What God Seems to Want
God told me that we should worry about too much about things that we cannot see or that we do not understand. He said it is better that we understand that every individual has needs but is not always able to supply them by himself. He said that we will be rewarded if we spend a good deal of our time looking after our families and our neighbor’s and staying out of war.
As Albert Einstein insinuated, God expects us to take care of the earth and each other.
That sounds good to me!
We Will Learn a Lot More
In the future, science (meaning mainly engineers) will build devices that will tell us more about our universe, how things got started and how they will end. A Mormon apostle told be that all such things will be revealed at the beginning of the Millennium, the time when the righteous will inherit the earth.
Some scientist are expecting the worse. They want to track celestial objects winging through space that could impact the earth. Large objects like the 2013 meteor in Siberia land in the ocean all of the time. The scientist are worried about Sydney and Budapest. (Have you wondered if Budapest was named after Buddha? Let me know if you hear of anything praiseworthy or of good report:
King James Bible Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
